چکیده

Dapagliflozin, a sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, has been widely used in treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Previous studies have shown that it both glucose-lowering effects and renoprotective functions DN. Tubulointerstitial fibrosis plays an important role the pathogenesis development progression Angiotensin‑converting enzyme (ACE2), major component renin-angiotensin system (RAS), part tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Herein, we investigated whether dapagliflozin could ameliorate high induced epithelial to mesenchymal cell transition (EMT) human proximal tubular cells (HK2) attenuated rat through ACE2.

Dapagliflozin: a sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitor in development for type 2 diabetes

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a growing worldwide epidemic. Patients face lifelong therapy to control hyperglycemia and prevent the associated complications. There are many medications, with varying mechanisms, available for the treatment of T2DM, but almost all target the declining insulin sensitivity and secretion that are associated with disease progression. Medications with such insuli...

Efficacy and safety of dapagliflozin, a sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, in diabetes mellitus

Although antidiabetic agents have been developed to target one or more of the core defects of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), many patients do not achieve glycemic goals. Inhibition of the sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) induces glycosuria, reduces glucose toxicity and improves insulin sensitivity and β-cell function. As the mechanism of action of SGLT2 inhibitors is different from othe...

The Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitor Dapagliflozin Prevents Renal and Liver Disease in Western Diet Induced Obesity Mice

Obesity and obesity related kidney and liver disease have become more prevalent over the past few decades, especially in the western world. Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are a new class of antidiabetic agents with promising effects on cardiovascular and renal function. Given SGLT2 inhibitors exert both anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effects by promoting urinary excretion of ...

Increased Hematocrit During Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitor Therapy

Treatment with sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT-2) leads to increased hematocrit. Other than hemoconcentration, this phenomenon could be attributed to enhanced erythropoiesis, as indicated by a rise in plasma erythropoietin (EPO) and reticulocytosis [1]. SGLT-2 inhibitors lead to improved renal cortical oxygenation, reflecting reduced transport activity in proximal tubules [2]. In their rec...

Long-Term Treatment with the Sodium Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibitor, Dapagliflozin, Ameliorates Glucose Homeostasis and Diabetic Nephropathy in db/db Mice

Inhibition of sodium glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) has been reported as a new therapeutic strategy for treating diabetes. However, the effect of SGLT2 inhibitors on the kidney is unknown. In addition, whether SGLT2 inhibitors have an anti-inflammatory or antioxidative stress effect is still unclear. In this study, to resolve these issues, we evaluated the effects of the SGLT2 inhibitor, dapag...
